4. Andre Gomes

The 25-year-old Brazilian has garnered a lot of attention since joining Everton on loan this season. Starting slowly, like many foreign players do when arriving in the Premier League, Gomes acclimated to life in the top flight just after the turn of the new year. He came into his own after a pretty gruesome start to his loan spell from Barcelona, improving substantially as time transpired.

Gomes is a tall, domineering player whose strongest asset is his ability to dribble in tight quarters. He enjoys thoroughly hitting long, rangy passes and still hasn’t reached his full potential.

However, the lanky Brazilian is palpably inconsistent. And when he’s going through an adverse stretch, it’s a pretty hideous sight. Often committing unnecessary fouls which invariably results in putting undo stress on his side’s defence, Gomes’ tackling ability leaves a lot to be desired.

He’d be better suited remaining at Goodison, as he’s not the caliber of player who will excel with a top club like Spurs. Why do you think Barcelona shipped him out? Whoever lands his signature will be expected to pay in the £25 million range, but let’s hope this is one transfer opportunity Pochettino turns a blind eye to. With his eye for finding talent, you’d assume Spurs supporters have nothing to worry about.

Likelihood of signing Gomes = Low to Medium

Which player do you think Spurs will sign, and are there any potential signings you feel are more promising than the four we’ve covered in this piece?
