It has seemed like an impossible amount of times that Tottenham have been forced to receive bad news about the opening of their new stadium and this week they have been forced to yet again.

Tottenham had been hoping to open their new stadium with the second leg return match of their Champions League tie against Dortmund.  That match was sure to be a cracker with Spurs already out in front due to their indomitable performance over the first leg and then with the atmosphere the first match in the new stadium would have provided the feeling would have been electric.  That electrical feeling is going to have to wait for the seemingly millionth time.

This is due to the fact that Crystal Palace beat Doncaster in the FA Cup and they’re going to have to reschedule because the last eight competition matches are expected to take part on March 16th and 17th.  That then followed by a two week international break pushes back the next potential home match Spurs will have to sometime in early April.

It seems where originally it was construction, personnel and planning issues now the schedule isn’t even making it easy for Spurs to open their new 62,000 seat arena.  Tottenham are poised to open the stadium as soon as they can though and schedule permitting that should be sooner rather than later.

The stadium has now finished with most of the necessary construction and safety tests and could provide the perfect catalyst for Spurs at the end of the season.  If they’re able to use it as a boost during the run in then this could still prove to be one of the most remarkable run in’s in Premier League history.

While Spurs should have been out of the title race at this point given the matches that they dropped early in the season and then losing not just Dele Alli or Harry Kane but both for large periods of time they are still in the title race.  With a match in hand they are potentially just two points off top and have matches against both the teams in front of them before the end of the season.

With a rousing new stadium atmosphere and oddly now rested Harry Kane for the first time in his time at Spurs and the added vibrancy of Dele Alli all coming together towards the end of the season Spurs could somehow find a way to still win the title.  This could be a most unlikely and yet magnificent season for the North London club who deserve an unlimited amount of credit for their resilience in the face of so many peculiar and uncertain circumstances this season.
