The most prized asset that Tottenham have in manager Mauricio Pochettino and they must be prepared to defend their position with tooth and nail.

Mauricio Pochettino is one of the best managers in the world, not simply England or Europe.  What he has done at Tottenham in his time since moving from Southampton has been miraculous and has helped finish Tottenham’s transition from historic also-ran’s into proper Premier League and even Champions League contenders.

That is exactly why Manchester United are correct to want him.  Real Madrid are in the same position as the great Mancunian club and will also be chasing Pochettino in the summer.  Both clubs are giants of the European and global game and represent substantial challenges to Tottenham’s position and that is a dangerous place for the North London club to be.

Daniel Levy should make sure to have a team of lawyers and press agents as deep as humanly possible to warn off the overtures of either.  Tottenham have their manager under contract for a considerable period of time and could do no better than having him see that contract out.

Should either Manchester United or Real Madrid step out of line then Tottenham should immediately pursue legal action and financial reparations from Uefa and Fifa for tapping up their manager and putting their club into disrepute.  They must take this as seriously as humanly possible and be as aggressive as they can.

There is not a single player at the club who is more valuable than the series of ideas and values that Pochettino has been able to instill in his squad.

Even in the worst possible case scenario in which Tottenham lose the manager they should gouge either major club for an absurd sum of money that would damage the transfer budgets of either team.  Too often Daniel Levy has been a dog about player transfers and not enough about the contracts of his managers.  Pochettino is the crown jewel at the moment and he must be defended at all costs.

It would even be worth Tottenham promising a certain amount of spending money to Pochettino in legal and contractual terms so he knows that his situation is one that is only improving.  This is a fight that Tottenham simply cannot lose.  There is no manager available as good or as ready who could become quickly enough ingrained in the club to repair the damages that losing Pochettino would cause.
