The following are player ratings for Spurs that took on Burnley FC on Saturday. They helped Tottenham pull off a late-match win. They are rated on a scale of 1-10.

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris – 8

Burnley were most likely to score during their 3 corners. They flooded the area in front of Lloris, one time bringing the total number of men in the box up to 15. This cramped space did nothing to hinder Lloris. On every corner he was the most dominating player and was quick to punch the ball away. Apart from those three occasions, Lloris’ night was pretty quiet. Burnley only took 4 shots, none of which were on goal. Lloris did well to stop any threatening runs that Ashley Barnes made and did a decent job as passing around. His only mistake was when he passed straight to Phil Bardsley. Still, this didn’t lead to much.

Defenders

Kieran Trippier – 9

Trippier got right back into action and served as Tottenham’s spark to start attacks. Early on he played Sissoko forward a few times. This put a lot of pressure on Burnley’s backline. His long passes into the box were especially dangerous and one of them lead to the only goal of the game. He was solid on defense and out-muscled bigger men on multiple occasions. He was also always aware of any pass he could cut out.

Toby Alderweireld – 8

The Belgian once again served as the Spurs defensive general. Alderweireld headed away countless balls from the box and facilitated the passing among the defenders. His long passes were beautiful. These were to the likes of Alli, Rose, Lamela, and Trippier. One of Alderweireld’s passes was perfectly placed to Trippier who made a run on the right side of the box. Still, defensively his job was pretty easy since most of the time Tottenham’s defense only had to keep tabs on a single Burnley player.

Ben Davies – 7

Maybe Davies should switch his permanent position to center back because he filled the role excellently. His focus was more on stopping Burnley’s attack and less on going forward himself. He showed the heading ability of Alderweireld coupled with the Trippier’s eye for cutting off forward passes. He was never beat, blocked one of Wood’s shots, and had command of his position. His long passes were messy but his shorter, ground passes were accurate.

Danny Rose – 5

Burnley wasn’t putting much pressure on Tottenham so Rose could go forward. Unfortunately, this was one of his worst offensive showings this season. Early on, he crossed well and could’ve even gotten an assist with one of them if his teammates were more diligent. He then played quite badly with his performance riddled with mistakes. His crosses were way too long and one of them was a horrible miss-kick straight out of bounds. The ball was also stolen from him a few times. This may be thanks in-part to an injury he picked up. Even so, he was decent at dribbling and was quite good at stopping anyone in claret red that was in his area.
