While Kieran Trippier has traditionally done well against Watford, the word seems to be out that Tottenham are very right sided. As I previously noted, the long diagonal from left to right is rare for Tottenham. And like Dembele, Ben Davies was just off the pace today. Most of his crosses were blocked and the few that got through were not really on target.

If the wings backs are not getting forward, then we are essentially playing five in the back then have five players to attack the opposing 9, as two strikers were forward all day for Watford. Add in Dembele being under-par and it was four on 9 for most of the game in the Tottenham attacking half.

We need to find some natural balance and fluidity with our wings, some of which is tied with our center half formation, but a lot is on what our backs can do. This could go from a strength to weakness quickly if a way to balance the wings isn’t found.
