Tottenham’s Dembele to leave in January
Recent reports in the Daily Mail have suggested that Tottenham’s grafting midfielder Moussa Dembele is nearing his exit from North London.
Though he is one of the most productive and consistent defensive midfielders in the world it appears that Tottenham’s Moussa Dembele is on his way out of the club. With only one year left on his contract, the hard battling midfielder is expected to make an exit from the club in January.
The Belgian midfielder who joined the club in 2012 and has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the club is expected to leave even though the club are on the record suggesting they will not listen to offers for the player.
In his time in North London Dembele has become an integral member of the club and at one point of Pochettino’s side. Though he has fallen out of favor in recent times his double century of appearances suggests just how important he is to the club. That is why this is a problem at the moment.
Tottenham will need to decide whether they want to continue to try and negotiate with the 31-year old who has less than 12 months left on his contract or make some money for the player before he is too far into his 30’s. It’s important to note that Dembele is not the only player that Tottenham have in this situation and that the club are beginning to test out some pretty rough waters by continuing to play this risky of a game.
It will not help matters that it has emerged that Pochettino tried to replace Dembele during the transfer window with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred. Though it appears judging by the Brazilian’s performances for Manchester United so far that Tottenham may have dodger a big Brazilian bullet on that one the public knowledge of that fact could simply have transformed it into a Belgian one.

If possible Tottenham would be best served to negotiate a deal with Dembele to stay. The same is true of Toby Alderweireld. Daniel Levy must understand that a culture of continuity and excellence is necessary for the club to win moving forward and Dembele should be a part of that.
