Trippier vs Shaw

The Keiran Trippier/Luke Shaw match-up probably wasn’t the top field battle people were considering coming in, but it was significant at times in the match. While it clearly wasn’t his best day Tripps, had a few key moments. On the build up to the first two goals, Trippier played the ball down the line to a running Christian Eriksen for the cross to Dele that set up the opening corner, and for the cross that Lucas finished.

Those two balls down the line along with the actual corner kick to Kane to open the scoring where the big moments for Trippier. Outside of that, Luke Shaw looked like he was auditioning for Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino, as the only poised member of the Man U back line and with his marauding runs that twice Lukaku could not put home.

Shaw is getting back to form and that is good for Manchester United. With Trippier, he wasn’t as good as he has been, but he wasn’t terrible either, he was just okay and looked to pick up a knock late in the game.  On the day okay was good enough and we know he has better, so I’m not worried, unless the knock is bad.
