Tottenham interested in signing German World Cup winner
By Liam Thomas
Injury and illness have plagued German midfielder Mario Gotze since his World Cup-winning heroics in 2014. However, reports suggest Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is keeping close tabs on the 26-year-old despite his fall from grace.
Gotze was left out of Germany’s squad for this summer’s World Cup and has struggled to find the form that saw him score Germany’s World Cup-winning goal in 2014, despite this the 26-year-old still holds a host of admirers and Spurs could be his next destination.
According to Football London, the German is looking for a fresh start and sees the Premier League as the perfect destination to reignite his career.

This has alerted Mauricio Pochettino who has reportedly been a long-term admirer of the midfield maestro and sees the opportunity to sign Gotze as a perfect situation for both parties.
Another positive for Spurs is that the German World Cup winner would be available for as little as £18million after a dip in the midfielder’s form.
But would taking on Gotze at such a pivotal moment in his career be a risk worth taking for Tottenham?
Perhaps, but if the German could find the form that earned him a move to Bayern Munich back in 2013 for a then German record of £32million, it could be a shrewd bit of business by Tottenham.
Gotze started 26 times for Dortmund in the Bundesliga last season, providing two goals and six assists for the German giants in a disappointing season for Die Schwarzgelben.
The decision on making a move for Gotze would undoubtedly be a gamble, and his physical presence doesn’t make him the most ideal of midfield candidates to handle the tough Premier League season. However, if there’s any manager to get the best out of the German, it’s Mauricio Pochettino.
