Twitter Tuesday: Latest Tottenham news and rumours
By Gary Pearson
Another week has passed without any concrete transfer action, but rumours are ramping up as everyone poises themselves for the World Cup to commence.
Is Toby going to United or not?
This deal will most likely eventually happen. Just don’t expect Daniel Levy to capitulate on his demands. Either Martial is coming to Tottenham or Manchester United will have to pay an astronomical fee for Spurs’ Belgian stalwart. Levy is demanding £70 million if Martial is not included in the deal. Either pay up or shut up, Jose.
Dier douses Russia
England supporters hope Eric Dier once again showcases his long-range shooting attributes when the World Cup starts this week. He struggled to find his shooting boots for Spurs this season but does have this sort of range in his locker. While Harry Kane will be responsible for taking most free kicks, it would be amazing to see Dier chip in with an effort like this.

Don’t give up on Gareth Bale quite yet
The Don Balon won’t give up on this story so Spurs supporters shouldn’t either, no matter how unlikely. Gareth Bale, in no uncertain terms, remains committed to making a long-awaited return to Spurs. The prospect of what would be a gargantuan move is more likely now that Daniel Levy, with Harry Kane’s new contract, lifted the ceiling on the club’s wage structure.
Spurs players ready for ultimate international test
Which Spurs player do you think will make it furthest in the upcoming World Cup? Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele and Toby Alderweireld are probably in with the best shot, as Belgium have to be considered heavy favourites to lift the coveted trophy aloft. Though the Englishmen would love to contest their Belgium colleagues every step of the way. Hugo Lloris will also fancy his chances with a fairly strong French side.
Reo Griffiths signs new Spurs deal
After speculation about Reo Griffiths’ future, the young Spurs attacker has made the white side of North London extremely happy. The 17-year-old is committed to staying at Spurs for the third year of his scholarship. Anything thereafter, however, is up in the air. It’s crucial Tottenham find a way to get him into the first team, which is more likely to come in the form of a domestic cup appearance.
