Tottenham Hope for Accelerated Harry Kane Recovery
By Ryan Wrenn
A cloud formed over Tottenham the second Harry Kane limped off the pitch against Millwall last weekend. Would they have to endure another dry spell without their star striker in the side?
Heung-min Son’s subsequent hat-trick perhaps encouraged some, but there is no doubt that Tottenham eagerly await the Kane’s return before the end of the season.
Scans of the England international’s ankle revealed a similar injury to the one that kept him out of the side for ten matches in the autumn. Thankfully though, it didn’t look as it would be quite as severe.
Injuries happen, of course, and the better clubs adapt. Son is the club’s presumptive choice to replace Kane this weekend against Southampton. Should the South Korean play well against the Saints, there’s a decent chance he holds onto the spot until Kane’s return.

From the sound of things now though, Son might not want to get too comfortable.
Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-match press conference on Friday was full of fun little tidbits, but the part fans latched onto most was news of Kane’s recovery.
As quoted by the Guardian:
"“We need to assess day by day. He’s positive. He’s talking about after international break, three or four weeks. That’s good but we need to be careful with his injury. We have full trust in our doctors and physios.”"
The Argentine went on to emphasized caution, but did admit that he hopes optimism will hasten the process along. It seems as if the club might welcome him back in closer to five weeks than the originally expected seven.
With 19 goals scored in the Premier League alone this season, it’s easy to see why Spurs are so anxious for any news of Kane’s recovery. Friday’s developments mean that his influence might not yet be over this season.
Tottenham currently sit second after 27 matches played. Arsenal, Liverpool and the Manchester clubs are all vying for one of the same three spots Spurs need to qualify for the Champions League again next season.

Perhaps more importantly, Tottenham are due to take on currently league leaders Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals on April 22nd. If Kane could somehow power through and recover in time for that, Spurs will enjoy a much higher chance of progressing to the final.
