Harry Kane sat down with Spurs TV to discuss his new Tottenham contract. A big moment for him, his family, the north London club and the supporters alike.

Tottenham star striker Harry Kane has just put pen to paper. It is the 23-year-old’s third contract since making his first team debut against Hearts in the Europa League in August 2011.

After 137 appearances with Spurs and cementing himself as a starter in Mauricio Pochettino’s team back in November 2014, Kane has scored 70 goals.

For the past 31 months, after getting a chance by Tim Sherwood in April 2014 of the 2013-14 Premier League season, Harry Kane has been involved in plenty of memorable highlights.

Here is just a snippet from Spurs’ official website:

  • Scored a hat-trick against Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League, before playing at goal for Hugo Lloris (he was ejected following a red card)
  • Scored a brace against Chelsea and Arsenal — both wins — during the 2014-15 Premier League season
  • Scored 79 seconds into his England debut
  • 3x Premier League Player of the Month winner
  • Named PFA Young Player of the Year
  • Scored 31 total goals in his first full season
  • Reigning Golden Boot winner with 25 goals in his second season
  • Named in PFA Team of the Year
  • Started in all of England’s matches during Euro 2016

At just 23-years-old, Kane has been involved in a lot of moments in a short amount of time. So it’s fitting that the next big highlight in his young career is another contract extension. Something that has been building for a few months.

“The progression has been very quick.” Kane said (via Tottenham’s official site).

“I first broke into the team, then scored in the Europa League, then started scoring in the Premier League, scoring in big games, a cup final, new contracts – a lot has happened. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind and I haven’t really taken it all in to be honest, it’s always onto the next thing.”

“Even now, I’ve signed a new contract and it’s onto the next thing, working hard and trying to get better. The next step for us is to start winning trophies and being in those high-pressure games.”

Prior to signing his latest contract extension, Harry Kane had been in negotiations for a couple of months and was looking to secure a higher pay raise. While earning six figures would shatter Daniel Levy’s current wage structure, Kane’s desire to remain with the club made it easier to get a deal done.

“Everyone knows how much I love this team and how I feel about this Club and to sign another contract is a special feeling.” Kane continued. “We’ve got a great, young squad, the Club is moving in the right direction and I had no hesitation in signing.”

With Harry Kane’s new deal now complete, he’s looking forward to helping Spurs get back to winning ways after the club’s form hasn’t been good in their last 10 matches in all competitions.

“The form of the last couple of months hasn’t been where we want it to be because we’ve set such high standards.” Harry Kane explained.

“It isn’t the time to panic or be worried. The performance against Chelsea was very good, even though we didn’t win, which was disappointing. We’re in a good place. We’re not far off the top and we’ve a very long way to go this season.”

Mauricio Pochettino echoed those same sentiments following their defeat at Stamford Bridge. While Spurs have won twice since October started they are fortunate enough to still be within striking distance of a top four spot.

December is a good opportunity to turn things around with the slate of teams they’re set to face, which features two teams in the relegation zone, Swansea City and Hull City.
