Tottenham Manager Mauricio Pochettino Trusts Michel Vorm
Tottenham will rely on Michel Vorm for the next four weeks while Hugo Lloris recovers from a hamstring injury.
One thing that Tottenham could not afford to start the season was an injury to a key player.
For Spurs to lose their captain on a freak accident is bad luck. The only silver lining is that Hugo Lloris will only miss four weeks.
Upon his return to the starting lineup, there will still be nine more months left in the season to right the ship if Spurs’ campaign has sputtered.
But according to Mauricio Pochettino he fully trusts Michel Vorm to do a good job.

“It’s always difficult when your captain is not on the pitch but we trust in Michel [Vorm] – he’s done well during pre-season.” Pochettino said (via Tottenham’s official site).
“He was, from day one, our first option ‘keeper during the summer.”
“He played a lot of friendly games and I think he’s ready to compete.”
“He’s a ‘keeper that has a lot of experience in the Premier League and in internationals and there is no doubt about his quality.”
It’s not surprising that Michel Vorm will be able counted upon in Lloris’ absence. After all he is the only goalkeeper left on the 25-man squad right now.
The only question is how will the Dutchman do with his French counterpart sidelined?

Even though Vorm has plenty of Premier League experience, he hasn’t started in England’s top-flight division for more than one game, since Hugo Lloris suffered a knee injury two years ago.
That seems like a minor detail, but a large reason to be worried is his consistency.
Prior to a three-game spell as a starter for Tottenham during the 2014-15 season, the 32-year-played with Swansea City from 2011 to 2014.
Essentially, it’s been a long time since Vorm has been called into action in the Premier League.
Who’s to say that his heroics against Everton disappear against Crystal Palace?
If he does well again this Saturday will it carry over against Liverpool and Stoke City too?

Michel Vorm is a solid backup goalkeeper, but with that being said, there’s a chance Tottenham slumps now that their captain is injured.
Again, Vorm played well in relief of Hugo Lloris at Goodison Park, but let’s remember that he was mainly a starter in four FA Cup games last year.
While three games were against two Premiership clubs (Leicester City and Crystal Palace), some rotation was involved in those match-ups.
Meaning, both teams weren’t exactly using their strongest lineups so it’s difficult to judge how good either team really were when Vorm was the starting ‘keeper.
Furthermore, all eyes will be on the Dutchman with each passing game.
And any action that happens, whether it’s good or bad, most likely will be scrutinized and quickly judged under the eyes of Spurs supporters and media members alike.

Mauricio Pochettino has placed his utmost faith in Michel Vorm and quite frankly he has to.
With Vorm’s experience throughout his career, by default he has to take over Hugo Lloris’ job.
There’s no one else who is better equipped to handle the amount of pressure in helping Tottenham secure wins.
