Tottenham Trains at Wembley Stadium ahead of Champions League
Tottenham stage their first training session of new season at Wembley Stadium.
Earlier today, Tottenham were training at Wembley for the first time since they were able to secure the national team stadium back in May.
Previously, Spurs turned one of their training pitches at Hotspur Way to mirror Wembley’s and get acclimated but now they get the real deal.

Because White Hart Lane’s pitch is 109 yards x 73 yards training at Wembley Stadium today (115 yards x 75 yards) will greatly help leading up to Spurs’ opening group stage fixture in the Champions League.
With the draw on August 25th and the first match on September 13 or 14, time is not on Spurs’ side to get accustomed to the slightly bigger pitch size.
Though aiding Spurs, is the governing body being flexible and allowing them to train at Wembley this season according to FA sources contacting ESPN FC.
Playing Champions League fixtures at White Hart Lane this season would have been a great send off for the 117-year-old stadium (118 this September 4th) but due to UEFA regulations, it would be impossible.
Even though Tottenham’s home ground would still have 32,000 seats available, after 4,000 were taken out due to renovations, according to Goal “access, capacity and rights delivery” are going to be issues.
Then again, playing at Wembley is a good alternate for Spurs.

And although Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said Wembley was a nightmare for his team during the Champions League from 1998 to 2000, this is why Mauricio Pochettino is taking extra steps to make sure his team is ready come September.
One way for Spurs to feel at home is being able to use Wembley’s full capacity of 90,000 seats.
Shortly after securing the national team stadium, Spurs announced a special deal allowing supporters to purchase all three group stage home matches between £70 and £150.
This has seen a huge uptick in sales and will assure Tottenham gets a majority of the 90,000 seats for their faithful fans.
Now that the Football Association will allow Spurs to use Wembley Stadium for training sessions throughout the season, this does a couple of things.
The first is obviously getting acclimated to the bigger pitch before their opening match if it is at home on September 13 or 14.
Secondly, along with Tottenham’s deal to secure Wembley for the Champions League this season, they were able to include the entire 2017-18 Premier League season as well.
With White Hart Lane closing at the end of the season, Spurs will need a temporary ground to play in and Wembley was chosen.
Not only will training at the national team venue be beneficial this year for those European nights on Tuesday or Wednesday, it will help Spurs be ready for next season when all of their home matches will be played at Wembley at a reduced capacity of course.

Tottenham’s new 61,000-seat stadium is set to open ahead of the 2018-19 season.
If, for whatever reason, there is a delay during construction, Spurs’ officials are ready to extend their stay at Wembley.
For now everything is going smoothly, so Spurs should spend a year away from north London next season.
