Tottenham’s last friendly of this summer’s pre-season will also be the first in which we get to see an actual glimpse of the team that will play in the season proper.

Mauricio Pochettino understandably elected to given those Tottenham players who participated in the European Championship additional time to rest this summer. Most had worked tremendously hard and long during Tottenham’s campaign last season and continued to do so for their respective countries in France this summer. They needed as much time off from the game as possible.

Unfortunately that has meant that Pochettino has been without the vast majority of his preferred starting XI so far this pre-season. In closed door friendlies and even in Tottenham’s brief tour of Australia last week, Pochettino’s named a mixture of first team veterans, bench players and under-21 academy squad regulars.

Those matches have been notable in their own right, but they have not quite provided us with a look into how exactly Tottenham will be approaching the 2016/17 season. It put miles in the legs of newcomers Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen, given chances to young players like Harry Winks to impress and put Tottenham’s competition on notice in regard to the club’s strength in depth, but it wasn’t exactly the highest expression of what this team is capable of.

Friday’s match against Inter in Norway, however, will be different. Much of Tottenham’s Euros contingent have returned to training and should be available for selection against Roberto Mancini’s Nerazzurri. Fans will finally get a belated look at what to expect from Tottenham this season.

Let’s break down what exactly to look for in Friday’s match, and what surprises might be in store.
