…and another departs

The player potentially involved in Tottenham’s pursuit of Nkoudou is Clinton Njie. The Cameroonian winger only just arrived at the club last summer, but after a season with the player (albeit a season in which he hardly participated due to injury and lack of form) Pochettino seems ready to move on — at least for the time being.

Paired with news that Nkoudou was due for north London was the suggestion that Njie would go the other way, either as makeweight or in an entirely separate deal. Like the Nkoudou rumor, however, there appeared to be no movement from Njie. He trained with the rest of the team. Even though he wasn’t included on Tottenham’s Australia trip, Pochettino seemed to suggest that Njie remained in his plans.

Over the weekend it emerged that perhaps the holdup was related to Njie’s French visa. The process for applying and receiving a new one is time consuming, and thus both his own and Nkoudou’s transfers have stalled.

With that matter resolved, things could be back on track and near completion once again.
