PSG Enter Race for Tottenham Target Vincent Janssen
Paris Saint-Germain joins Tottenham and a host of clubs trying to sign Vincent Janssen as they look to find a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimović following his exit.
It’s a growing list of clubs who are trying to sign the AZ Alkmaar striker with the likes of Tottenham, West Ham, Ajax, PSV, Wolfsburg and now PSG. At this rate, what once was a €20 million (£16.3 million) price tag for the Dutch international will go to the highest bidder with as many as six teams in the hunt.

Thankfully, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are short of AZ’s asking price.
According to L’Equipe, per Football Oranje, PSG have only set aside €15 million for the Dutch striker who scored 27 goals in 34 Eredivisie appearances last season.
At the same time, after hearing word of the French giants getting ready to submit an offer, De Telegraaf was quick to note that nothing has happened yet.
With Tottenham needing reinforcements to finally have a backup for Harry Kane, their initial offer of €14 million (£11.4 million) was quickly rejected.
AZ Alkmaar’s value which is currently at €20 million wasn’t the original number that was reported earlier in June.
Now while the Mirror could be hit or miss as they broke a story involving both Tottenham and AZ agreeing on terms, the €14 million Spurs sent is actually fair.
Consider this, PSG have more money than Tottenham do, but even though they now have a glaring hole at center-forward with Zlatan Ibrahimović’s exit and apparent arrival to Manchester United, the current Ligue 1 champions don’t see Janssen as being worth more than €15 million.
So what it seems like is that AZ are overvaluing their star striker.
There’s no denying that Vincent Janssen is a goalscorer as he had 19 goals in 34 appearances in the Eerste Divisie, the second division of Dutch football two years ago before carrying that form into the Netherlands’ top flight division last season.

If no clubs are able to meet AZ Alkmaar’s asking price, then it’s to be expected that he won’t be sold.
This obviously hurts Tottenham who are in the market for striker help as Vincent Janssen meets the requirements that Mauricio Pochettino is looking for.
A young center-forward who has talent and potential to go along with Harry Kane. Not only that, but it’s beneficial to play at a high level of football even though the Eredivisie isn’t exactly know as a top European league.
Still, to score 46 goals in 68 appearances split between the first and second division of Dutch football in two years, it shows that he can lead his current team’s attack by himself. This makes him a good fit for Tottenham by default and a good reason why they were interested to begin with.
Regardless of the competitive level that Dutch football presents compared to other top European leagues, scoring goals is a striker’s job and Janssen has done that as showcased by his goal scoring form which could see him earn a move to a big club this summer if AZ Alkmaar finds the right suitor.

The longer that this transfer saga drags on for, another club can snatch up the 22-year-old leaving Spurs without a backup striker with pre-season looming next month.
There are other targets that Mauricio Pochettino and company have in mind, but with how much interest Tottenham have shown in Vincent Janssen, they’re adamant in signing him. Like they are with Michy Batshuayi and Antonio Sanabria.
