Antonio Sanabria to Tottenham Might Happen
Both the Italian and English press are starting to cover more information regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Antonio Sanabria ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
News is picking up linking Roma striker, Antonio Sanabria, to Tottenham with the 20-year-old Paraguayan international’s agent conducting an exclusive interview with TuttoMercatoWeb saying that he has actually spoken to Spurs and must speak with Roma again to gauge their interest.

To help give more credit to this story — based on your standing with The Daily Mail and how they cover transfer rumors — they wrote up an article today which goes over everything that has been said these past couple of days.
But back to what Sanabria’s agent had to say. Take this with a grain of salt because it could be nothing but a bunch of fluff seeing as how it’s “silly season” with the transfer window opening within a week.
Heavily edited for clarity and brevity. Original quote is in the link up top.
"“The rumors regarding Tottenham? I can only speak in general terms, but there was some contact,” Raul Verdú said. “We will have to reconvene with Roma again, but right now, Antonio Sanabria is still a member of the Giallorossi.”“I’ll have to talk with Walter Sabatini (Roma’s Director of Football) to decide on whether a potential transfer is possible.”“Though at the moment, there is still nothing concrete regarding Sanabria’s future, but we’ll see if there’s any news next week.”"
Let’s assume that what Raul Verdú said is true, just for a moment.
Due to Antonio Sanabria’s season spent with Sporting Gijón, in which he scored 11 goals in 29 La Liga appearances while on loan from Roma this past term, it’s no surprise that the Paraguayan striker has caught the eyes of numerous clubs.
And, with Mauricio Pochettino in the market to bolster his attacking options up top, a young center-forward who can learn from Harry Kane would be a fine addition to have next season.
Sanabria won’t be tasked with starting in place of Kane as that would hopefully be someone else that might be signed — Vincent Janssen perhaps. Therefore, to combat fatigue and rotation in lesser fixtures like cup games Antonio Sanabria can start instead.

Another reason that this transfer rumor could work in Tottenham’s favor, assuming that everything checks out from both the Italian and English press, is that Roma have already rejected Rubin Kazan’s offer of £11 million.
When Roma initially bought Sanabria from Sassuolo two summers ago on July 1st, they paid £3 million only. So by selling him now while his stock is continuously rising, the Serie A club will stand to profit £8.5 million from Tottenham who are said to have agreed on a £11.5 million deal.
Either way, it would have been a good investment for Roma no matter who they would have sold Antonio Sanabria to as they are in the market to bolster other positions in their squad.
According to the Italian news outlets, Roma are looking for midfielders and full-backs, so by selling Sanabria some of the funds that they receive in return could help them.
For Tottenham to part ways with £11.5 million, this would be considered chump change and also a bargain of a deal to sign a striker who has plenty of potential to get even better within a few years.

While Victor Wanyama has yet to officially sign with Spurs, the fact that Mauricio Pochettino, Paul Mitchell, Daniel Levy and the rest of Tottenham’s transfer committee have been able to secure valuable players without breaking the bank shows that they know how to play the transfer market to their strengths.
They know exactly what players to target and how much they’re willing to spend. And a majority of the time, clubs are willing to meet Tottenham’s offers when they’re looking to buy. As well as when they have to sell.
Antonio Sanabria could potentially become another example if a deal goes through.
