5. Clinton N’Jie

Clinton goes at the bottom of the list not because he was awful this season, but just because his injury really minimized his appearances and therefore it makes it difficult to know what he’s really about.

In his last season in Lyon, Clinton made a total of 33 appearances and scored eight goals. While those are respectable numbers, he didn’t exactly blow anyone away.

However, he wasn’t brought to Tottenham in order to rack up the goals, he was brought in to play a vital role in a high press, high energy system. Clinton’s job was to give the attacking wingers (Christian Eriksen and Érik Lamela) rest when necessary, allow Harry Kane to have a day off every now and then, and to inject energy into the team late in games when things became bland. And for the most part it seemed like he did that to some extent.

Sadly, the jury is still out on Clinton and supporters will have to wait until next year to really see what he can bring to the squad.
