This is article is mostly just another tie-in to what was written yesterday, with Harry Kane’s fast start with Tottenham being one of the best in the Premier League, when compared to other great goal scorers in the top-flight division.

Throughout Spurs’ history, there have been many good goalscorers to wear Lilywhite since the Premier League was formed 24 years ago and began play in 1992. A total of 13 players have been Tottenham’s top scorers with Teddy Sheringham and Robbie Keane each having four seasons as Spurs’ leading scorer.

While Sheringham (’92-’94), Ferdinand (’00-’02), Keane (’02-’04) and Berbatov (’06-’08) have managed to score double-digit goals in back-to-back seasons, the only player to score 20 goals consecutively is Harry Kane in the Premiership.
Martin Chivers (1970-72) is the last Tottenham player to score back-to-back 20 league goals in a top-flight division.

Obviously to break a Tottenham record (by scoring 22 goals) and be the only player to have two 20-plus goal seasons consecutively in the Premier League, Kane calls it a great achievement for himself and something that he’s proud of.
“It’s a great achievement and one I’m very proud of,” Harry Kane said, speaking to Spurs TV following a 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
“I wasn’t really thinking about that until you guys told me! It’s nice. I set myself targets at the start of the season, 21 last season, I’m on 22 now but there are plenty of games left and I’ll be looking to get a few more goals and a few more wins as well.”

Since opening his account against Manchester City, and then scoring a hat-trick on Bournemouth, Harry Kane has been on a scoring tear which recently saw him score his 22nd goal in the Premier League. As for his last 11 league appearances, Kane has scored 11 goals (six goals in his last four games).

So basically, this is what Kane’s season looked like at the start and how it looks like now: one goal in his first nine matches this season. Now? Kane has bagged 21 goals in 23 matches since the Man City game.
For the entire calendar year of 2015, the England international scored 27 goals, the most by any Premier League player and another record for the Tottenham striker.
Lastly, because Kane was on fire last season and was named PFA Young Player of the Year in 2015, while also picking up a Club Player of the Year award for Tottenham and being selected as part of the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. At his current pace, it’s possible that Harry Kane will win the Golden Boot award for being the top goalscorer in the Premiership this season with 22 goals and counting.
