Another Tottenham player who can see a golden opportunity presented in front of them is Danish international, Christian Eriksen, who is determined that the north London club can win it all.

While everyone is still pegging Leicester City to win the Premier League even though they had astronomical odds of doing so with a 5000-1 chance of winning it all to start the 2015-16 season, Tottenham have slowly been creeping up on the Foxes throughout the year.

And now with only seven games remaining in the Premiership once the international break is over, it’s hard for both clubs to realistically deny what is right in front of them: the chance of lifting the Premier League title come May.

With a majority of Tottenham’s players from their starting eleven against Bournemouth on international duty (minus Toby Alderweireld due to a stomach flu), the Dane is hopeful that his teammates will take this current international break and use it as another means of boosting their confidence ahead of Tottenham’s title pursuit once everyone returns.

“Hopefully all the players who are out on international duty are doing really well, getting a lot of confidence and will be back straight into the title race,” Eriksen told Sky Sports prior to Denmark’s friendly against Scotland on Tuesday.

“We know we can make history, but for Leicester it is the same, they know they can make history as well.”

“For us it is just about getting close to first and then seeing where we end. We have impressed everyone this season and hopefully we will end really strong and see where we are.”

Even though Mauricio Pochettino and his players have been preaching a one game at a time mentality, it’s obvious that with pressure mounting and the season winding down, there’s one eye on Spurs’ upcoming opponents Liverpool and the other eye looking at the next couple of fixtures ahead of them.

One way to put it, which Toby Alderweireld stated just recently, is that Tottenham will be prepared to play in “seven finals” and in a way, that’s exactly how Spurs will have to look at things.

Second place this season isn’t a bad result for this Tottenham team, but that doesn’t mean they can drop points and let Arsenal, Manchester City, West Ham United and Manchester United catch up to them.

And in order for Tottenham to continue the pressure to close a five point gap into just two points, Christian Eriksen will look to play a huge part in Spurs’ final games. At just 24-years-old, the Danish international has been backed by Danish legend, Brian Laudrup, who believes new Denmark coach Age Hareide’s tactics can help Eriksen on the international level and in turn for Tottenham at the club level.

“He has certainly not hit the heights for the Danish team,” said Laudrup (quotes via BBC Sport).

“But he certainly showed against Iceland he was back to his best, playing one of his best games for the Danish national team in years.”

“The one thing you have to remember about Christian Eriksen is that he is only 24. He is still a very young player, but he’s played 59 times for Denmark already, which is incredible.”

“He is certainly showing week in, week out in England with Tottenham how good a player he can be.”

“I think with this new system, with the way Mr. Hareide sets his team up, he would like to give Christian Eriksen as much freedom as possible.”

“You will see other players playing in midfield trying to do all the hard work, all the dirty work and let Christian Eriksen do what he is best at. In the final third of the pitch, he is very good, great skill, great vision, great shooting ability as well.”

Playing as a left midfielder with Dele Alli in the number ten spot just behind Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen’s freedom with Tottenham might not be the same like it will be when he’s playing for Denmark.

Still, in a sense, with Alli and Kane’s partnership growing with each passing game in recent weeks, perhaps Christian Eriksen in a roundabout way can roam around freely off the ball, or with the ball, and help set his teammates up for a goal.

And with eight goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season, the 24-year-old midfielder is well-rounded like he was in his debut season for Spurs during the 2013-14 campaign (12 goals and 16 assists in all competitions) to the point that if Brian Laudrup believes Eriksen can only get better, there’s no reason why it can’t happen.
