Spurs players were well represented in England’s squad against Germany and Eric Dier produced a fantastic finish to cap off a good game between the two countries.

While earning only his third senior cap to his name yesterday, and despite the game being an international friendly, producing the match-winning goal in stoppage time is something that Eric Dier will never forget.

Every footballer cherishes that moment when they score their first professional goal, but to do so on the international stage. The emotional feeling that you get is tenfold. It’s one thing to represent your country proudly, but to score for them is just as good or an even better feeling.

Not only was scoring the match-winning goal an amazing way to beat England’s fiercest rivals, but for Eric Dier to celebrate with his Spurs teammates, that was another special moment for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder..

“It was the best way for it to happen, to be with the boys from Spurs,” said Dier, who has scored four goals in all competitions for Spurs this season. (quotes via Spurs’ official website)

“We enjoyed a nice moment at the end of the game – all that was missing was Walks (Kyle Walker) being on the pitch too!”

In total, Spurs had five players represent England with four of them getting the start: Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Dier and Danny Rose. Unfortunately, Kyle Walker was an unused substitute with Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne getting the start instead.

Still that minor blip won’t ruin Eric Dier’s moment of scoring for his country.

“It’s an amazing feeling to score for England and one that I won’t forget – it’s probably the best feeling I have felt thus far in my career and it’s a very proud moment for me and my family.”

All England needed was just one goal to put pressure on the reigning World Cup champions. And at the hour mark, Harry Kane obliged and made sure to get the comeback started with Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy providing another spark to turn things into the Three Lions’ favor with the game level at two-all.

“I thought the team showed great character and stayed positive to come back, too. Once we got one goal back, everyone had the belief that we could go on and win.”

Not to get lost in the shuffle between the four starters for Spurs was left-back Danny Rose who made his senior England debut.

As usual, like he has done throughout this season with Tottenham, the 25-year-old full-back brought his high energy and offensive prowess into the match to run right at Germany’s defense.

He adds another dynamic to England’s attack especially on counters when they receive the ball and begin pushing forward.

To work the flanks like Danny Rose does constantly and then send in crosses for a potential header or volley, when there’s an opening, is something that didn’t go unnoticed for Dier.

As he made sure to praise his Spurs and England teammate right after the game.

“I’m so happy for him,” Eric Dier said. “His opportunity is very much deserved and to play like he did on his debut, in that sort of game, was fantastic.”

In two days time, England will take on the Netherlands at Wembley Stadium which will hopefully see all five Spurs players play together on the pitch this time around. Meaning that Kyle Walker gets a start.

And with Holland’s Jasper Cillessan recently suffering a broken nose in training when Klaas-Jan Huntelaar accidentally caught Cillessan’s face with his boot after the ‘keeper when to slide and pickup the ball. The unfortunate accident means that Jasper Cillessan won’t play in the midweek friendly, which gives Michel Vorm, another Spurs player the opportunity to represent his country during this international break.

After March 29, the next game is a big Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield on April 2nd to finish off the remaining seven fixtures that are left in the top-flight division this season.
