Thirty-one when he joined Tottenham, Poyet understandably didn’t quite turn in the production he managed during his previous four years at Chelsea. Though he managed 14 goals in his opening season, the remainder of his time with the club was often mired with injuries. Still, he was the type of player Tottenham needed at the turn of the century to help boost them back into regular contention in the Premier League.
