Age: 18
Current Club: Liverpool (Premier League)
Current season (all competitions):

  • Liverpool: 4 appearances, 0 goals, 0 assists, 196 minutes
  • Liverpool’s U-21: 3 appearances, 0 goals, 0 assists, 240 minutes

Spurs players at his position: Dele Alli, Tom Carroll, Mousa Dembélé, Ryan Mason, Harry Winks

Now before thinking “Why would we sign another young central midfielder when we just signed Dele Alli last winter?” Well did you ask yourself “Why are we signing Dele Alli when we already have Tom Carroll (on loan), Étienne Capoue, Mousa Dembélé, Ryan Mason, Paulinho and Harry Winks (in the youth academy)”? Because if you didn’t, Mauricio Pochettino will stockpile on players no matter how much he has at any position. Case in point, there are two left-backs that are listed on this slideshow which Spurs are interested in despite having Ben Davies and Danny Rose.

The bad news of trying to sign Jordan Rossiter from Liverpool — if you think of it as bad — is that he’s been injured for the past two seasons. Whether that’s cause for concern or a quick invitation to sign someone even cheaper, especially because his contract is expiring at the end of this season. Tottenham could get “the next Stevie G[errard]” and have all of the central midfielders that they want.

Currently there are too many players ahead of Rossiter on Jürgen Klopp’s first team as is, so maybe he won’t mind seeing one of Liverpool’s home grown talent leave. Although supporters definitely won’t like it if that were to happen. A pre-contract in January for Jordan Rossiter can be Spurs’ first move. So let’s see if they do it.
