Age: 19
Current Club: Birmingham City (Football League Championship)
Current season (all competitions):

  • Birmingham City: 24 appearances, 1 goal, 1 assist, 1,899 minutes

Spurs players at his position: Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen

Signing a winger isn’t as important as signing a striker. But, perhaps going with a wide player would be the easiest choice to make. While Nacer Chadli, Son Heung-min and Clinton N’Jie (once healthy) are capable of playing as strikers, but seem more suited to play in an attacking midfield/winger role. Perhaps Mauricio Pochettino could stick with the idea of moving Son as a striker, or Chadli and N’Jie.

Why? For one, you’re not always going to get a player who’s reluctantly going to accept a backup job — at most — and sit behind Harry Kane. Unless that player is on equal footing both in wages and ability, a striker may be harder to identify. Whereas, Spurs already know who their backup strikers are. They just happen to play out wide or as the team’s number 10.

Say for example that Tottenham sign Demarai Gray. This means Christian Eriksen either says wide left or moves back inside. Nacer Chadli winds up as a third-choice striker and backup left winger. Doesn’t sound too bad. And with Spurs, according to the Telegraph, needing to only pay around £3.75 million this would be a smart investment in the long-term.
