Transfer fee: £12 million
Former club: Olympique Lyon (Ligue 1)
Years with Spurs:  August 31, 2012 — Present
Stats: 144 appearances, 166 goals conceded, 49 clean sheets (in all competitions, thus far)

Tottenham will, on occasion, perform an absolute coup on the transfer market, one that is undeniable from the moment the papers are signed. Hugo Lloris was such a player.

The French national team keeper had been performing exceedingly well for Lyon and seemed destined to a call up to a bigger team. He in theory could have had the pick of several other teams besides Tottenham, teams that were qualified for the Champions League. Instead – no doubt through a little financial convincing on the part of Levy – Lloris chose Tottenham, and evidently hasn’t looked back. He is currently one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, if not the best outright. At only 28, there’s no reason to think his influence will be fading anytime soon.
