One of Tottenham’s best players to wear a Spurs shirt throughout the past decade. Michael Dawson was the epitome of what Ledley King was before him — a rock in central defense. In fact, for nearly 10 years, Dawson would not only learn from King but play with him, albeit sparingly due to King’s chronic knee injuries.
The official changing of the guard, where Tottenham would be Michael Dawson’s team, happened once King, who was club captain for many years would step away from football and retire on July 19, 2012. A few months later, before the start of the 2012-13 season, Dawson would wear the captain’s armband to begin a new chapter without the heart and soul of defense.
Two more years, following Ledley King’s retirement, is what Michael Dawson would be given as Tottenham’s squad would begin getting younger with the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino. Eventually Dawson would be sold to Hull City leaving behind a legacy that could almost be on par with the great Ledley King as one of the best center-backs for Spurs.
