Central midfielder, Tom Carroll

Spurs TV: Okay Tom Carroll’s here. Tom, and I’m delighted to say goalscorer, Tom Carroll. Let’s start with the game, Tom. 4-1 against Monaco, we needed a point and we did a great job of that didn’t we?

Tom Carroll: Yeah definitely. We got off to a great start, got the early goal and that really helped us settle in. And overall it was a good performance from the boys.

STV: I mean the gaffer was talking about how important the mentality was going into it. And you could see there was intent there from the first whitsle.

TC: Yeah definitely. I mean, the managers wanted us to go out and win the game. That’s the mentality for every game, whether it’s in the league or in Europe. There’s not a main priority this year and we want to go out and win every game.

STV: We saw you getting on the ball a lot and we dictated it, didn’t we? Especially in the first half when we went 3-0 up. And then, in the second half the moment came. How was your first goal in that moment?

TC: Yeah I was absolutely delighted really. I think — I can’t remember — I was running into the box just to try and block it and then I ended up luckily getting it and then just… just beating the man and rolling it in. But yeah, just buzzing to get my first goal for the Club.

STV: And off you went on your celebration. What was going through your head when the ball hit the back of the net?

TC: No, it was just because I knew my family were up in the corner there. So, obviously it was nice to score down that end and then went off and maybe overdone it a bit with that knee slide [laughs]. But no, it’s nice to have them in the crowd as well, to score.

STV: You’re going to remember this for the rest of your life, it’s a special moment, mate. I mean you’ve been in the Club for a long time, since a kid. And it’s your first senior goal, it means a lot.

TC: Yeah exactly. That’s the thing, I’ve been here since I was eight now so to get the goal for the Club means a lot to me. And obviously I’m delighted to get off the mark.

STV: So where do we go from here? I mean we got Newcastle on the weekend, we’re into the next round of Europe. I mean the team is looking strong, you’re a part of it. It’s looking good at the moment Tom.

TC: Yeah the boys are full of confidence. I mean, I think we’re unbeaten since the first day of the season now, in the league and stuff. So we’re going to Sunday on a positive spirit and hopefully get the three points again.

STV: And this is another first because this is Spurs TV first of all. Your first goal, first interview with your girlfriend standing right behind us. And you’ve been nothing but a pro Tom, well done tonight.

TC: [laughs] Thank you, cheers.

Finally, here’s attacking midfielder, Josh Onomah.
