Choosing to play young players is normal for Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino because of how good they are and because they deserve it.

Speaking to The Guardian Mauricio Pochettino gave away a not-so-secret secret regarding why young players are making regular appearances on his matchday selections for the starting eleven or on the bench this season.

“I’m not afraid to play them,” says Pochettino. “If a player deserves to play, if they are 17, 18, 19 or 20 it’s the same for us, if they deserve to play and show character and maturity to be given the responsibility. But for that, you need to build the player.”

Inexperience is one major concern for players who are 17, 18, 19 or 20-years-old, but that’s the risk that Pochettino is willing to take if those same players can help the team win games. So far this season, that has been the case which has helped Tottenham go on an 11-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League.
