Like Harry Kane said, the game against Bournemouth minus the opening five minutes was perhaps Tottenham’s best game of the season. Now there are some things to take away. The opponent was Bournemouth who had been struggling before their match against Spurs. Their defense and goalkeeping wasn’t top notch. But had Tottenham lost this match, it would have been much worse than brushing aside a 5-1 victory over the fourth worst team in the Premier League. A win is a win, whether it’s a 5-1 victory over an awful team or a 2-1 win over a good team. Another win was able to keep Tottenham’s unbeaten streak to nine games, but now it’s time to get more wins and offset the amount of draws that Spurs have collected so far.

This will be the second fixture of the season where Tottenham will be facing a team with a new manager. It would have been obvious to correct certain mistakes from last season’s defeat at home when Tim Sherwood returned to White Hart Lane. But because he was sacked, it’s unknown how Villa will look like now with a new manager.

The only thing that Tottenham can do leading up to this game is to continue and improve upon what they did so well against Bournemouth — the little subtle things. Recycle possession all over the midfield from one side of the pitch to the other, stretch the defense out. Playing out wide with two midfielders in form, Christian Eriksen and Érik Lamela, should logically commit the defense to shade over to one side of the pitch long enough for either Mousa Dembélé or Harry Kane to take advantage of open spaces at the top of the box or inside the box. Thus creating chances.

Another thing to watch out for, whoever ends up being Aston Villa’s new manager, will be seeing all of the players to rally around the new manager to do good and right their sinking ship. So Tottenham, just like Liverpool with Jürgen Klopp, should be expecting a very tough game for 90 minutes.
