Conversation Corner: Tottenham vs Arsenal
Tom Carroll:
“Tom Carroll’s here. Tom thanks for joining us. Narrow defeat in the end to Arsenal, I know it hurts. First what are your thoughts on the game?”
“I thought really, as soon as we got it back to one-all, I thought it was all us, really. We just couldn’t quite get the goal, and then they got the goal and it took it out of us a little bit. And I think we were unlucky in the end.”
“You must have felt that the crowd was up, the team was energized at one-all, weren’t we? We were just waiting for the second goal really.”
“Yeah exactly, as soon as our goal went in, the crowd were superb and they got right behind us. But tonight just wasn’t the night for us.”
“Tom, it was your first start in the North London Derby. I mean how did you feel about yourself?”
“Yeah I was buzzing to be fair, to get the nod tonight. I thought I had a slow start but I got into the game and got some nice passing and got confidence. And yeah I was quite happy with my performance in the end.”
“What’s it like playing in the middle of the park in these games?”
“Yeah it’s good, it’s what you want to be doing. They’re the games you want to play and obviously I was happy to get the nod and you know I’m hoping the gaffer was happy with my performance.”
“I say, it hurts to lose don’t you. You don’t want to lose many of these games do you?”
“No not at all. You know you should have seen the lads after in the dressing room. We were in there saying ‘You know we could have won this game.’ and it shows this is a good squad we’ve got here and we’re capable of playing against the good sides and getting results.”
“Well we’ll have exactly the same on our plate on Saturday as a quick turnaround, Tom as Man City here, they’ve started like a house on fire. But they were tripped up against West Ham so — and our league form is good.”
“Yeah exactly, I think we fancy, anyone really on our day. We’ve had a good start to the season, we didn’t get the results at first, but now the results are starting to come in and we’ll be full of confidence going into the game.”
