“Kevin Wimmer is here with us and Kevin, a Spurs debut tonight. It must mean a lot to you.”

“Yes it’s a very special feeling for me. It was my first game for Spurs and I enjoyed it, really a lot. I’m very pleased that I could have the chance to play at home, at White Hart Lane. It’s a very special feeling for me and I’m very proud that we also win the game. It was a very difficult game for us. Our opponents was a good team, they had good players on that team and so it was not easy. But we tried our best and I think it was a very important win to start this Europa League season.”

“You would have seen a lot Qarabağ in meal preparations — you would have seen videos. But I’m guessing they would have surprised a few people with how they played tonight didn’t they? They’re a very attacking team aren’t they?”

“Yes that’s true and I think we tried to put pressure on them all the time, all 90 minutes. But they weren’t afraid to play football as well and they were very self confident and also tried to do their best. I think we were a bit unlucky with the penalty of course, and it’s always difficult when you get the penalty against you. But we tried our best and of course it was very good that Sonny scored twice in the first half. Maybe we should have scored the third goal earlier in the game, but I think the game was okay today. “

“Now you are the perfect person to tell us about Sonny because you’ve played against him. Now he’s on your side and he’s scored two in two minutes and that sort of turned things around. But this is the first time that Spurs fans have seen him at White Hart Lane. Tell us what you know about him and what we can expect from him?”

“Sonny’s well known in Germany because he played a few years for Leverkusen — very good. Before, he played for Hamburg and he’s a very good player, very strong player, very quick. He’s scored a lot of goals in Germany; mostly played on the wings, right or left wing. He was a very good player last season, he had a good season and I think he’s a player who can help us a lot. He showed that today, and he can score a lot of goals. For me, it’s also nice to have him on the team because he’s the only player I can also talk German to him, so it’s always also nice. But I think we have a very good player with Sonny.”

“And of course, going back to the game tonight. We said we did go 1-0 down so it was very important to turn it around Kevin, wasn’t it, and win this first group game 3-1 in the end.”

“Yeah we know that our group is not an easy group, we have a lot of very good teams. There’s no team where you say ‘It’s easy to play against them’ so it was very very good to us. Very important for us today, to win this first game in the group stage. Now we can look forward to the next away game, against Monaco, in the group stage and hopefully we can win that as well. But I think it was a very good start for us. “

“And I’m guessing you’re hoping to get some more minutes on the pitch as soon as possible?”

“As a footballer you always want to play as much as possible of course. But I think we have a lot of players — a lot of good players — and I’m very pleased that I got my debut chance today and hopefully, of course, I try to give my best and convince my coach to give me more minutes.”
