Which Position Should Spurs Improve More?
Which Defensive Midfielder Should Spurs Sign?
With Sven Bender’s long list of injuries, who else should Spurs sign? There has been an inquiry to Southampton’s Victor Wanyama. The Kenya international would also be a good defensive midfield signing for various reasons. One major reason includes Mauricio Pochettino who has has already worked with Wanyama two seasons ago as the Saints’ manager.
In fact, he was signed by the Argentine coach and paired up with Morgan Schneiderlin to form one of the Premier League’s best midfield pairings last season. Being only 24-years-old, Victor Wanyama would fit in nicely with the current Spurs squad due to their ages being relatively close.
Depending on how much Sven Bender and Victor Wanyama would cost, the cheaper option should be Bender after the injuries he’s picked up over the years.

His re-sale value goes down if he picks up another injury from now until the end of the season. Should Spurs want to take a gamble, Bender is a likely option at holding mid.
Looking ahead to the future, Victor Wanyama is the obvious choice but would cost a lot.
His age and recent form for the past three seasons would easily be close to Morgan Schneiderlin’s sale which was £24 million. Losing another midfielder would hurt Southampton so it’s to be expected that the price would be quite high.
