The arrival of Clinton N’jie over the weekend will go a long way to addressing this issue, but one of the biggest problems Saturday was that Erik Lamela was the only option Spurs had when the team seemed to lose its offensive verve. That’s not to besmirch the overall level of talent from the bench. The likes of Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier and Tom Carroll are all wonderful additions to the matchday squad. It’s just that none of them are outright offensive weapons, the kinds that might be able to significantly increase Tottenham’s chances at a late goal.

He’s not used to getting a lot of starting minutes and seems to actually thrive from off the bench. Tottenham’s chances of acquiring the Mexican seem to have dropped over the last week, but there’s still plenty of transfer window left.
