We’ve covered a lot of ground with Tottenham’s failure to win against Stoke City Saturday in this season’s home debut at White Hart Lane. The result is discouraging to say the least. Were it to happen on some random Saturday in November or March, it might be easy to shrug off. Every team has a disappointing outing, particularly as the fixtures begin to come quick and legs begin to tire.

That this wholly lopsided performance came so early in the season suggests there’s still a lot of work to be done, players to replace and choices to reconsider. It’s not a disaster, of course. There’s plenty more games to be played. But there’s a lot to be learned about picking at the details of this game, both for the fans and the team itself. Hotspur HQ has – and will – contribute to the conversation in a productive and meaningful way as Tottenham finds its way this season.

For now, though, let’s vent. Here are five hot takes from the 2-2 draw against Stoke City.
