Tottenham’s Latest Transfer Rumor Roundup
The latest transfer rumors involving Tottenham.
Tottenham is continuing to clear out more space both on their squad and wages.
Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor
Two names that have been frequently linked to an exit are potentially close to being finalized. When will that actually happen? It’s been pegged as “sometime this week” as reported by 101 Great Goals. Not sure if the article is legit, but the main sticking points are the price that’s being discussed and the tweets that are used.
On a sidenote, the author (Ben Green) used the best phrase to describe the situation between Roberto Soldado and Villarreal:
"“Although Sevilla were keen on Soldado, The Yellow Submarine “seduced” Soldado and are now working out payment terms to stagger the €17 million.”"
One can only imagine what this “seducing” entailed.
In any event, €17 million is £12 million when rounded up. Because the original price was £26 million two summers ago, that becomes a major loss. But if the rumor is true, and half were all incentives based — £13 million — then Tottenham got a good deal.
Whichever number is true, Tottenham would be selling the 30-year-old Spaniard and still get a decent amount of money. Although his current age and form this past season made it more difficult to recoup even more.
For Emmanuel Adebayor, his season-long loan deal to Aston Villa is taking quite a while to be finalized. Perhaps it has more to do with him or Tottenham waiting to pull the trigger because they have yet to bring in some reinforcements.
As for the tweets regarding both players and the current situation:
Until these moves are actually official, it’s best to take these tweets with a massive grain of salt. Or just completely dismiss them entirely, either way works.
Sven Bender
This next piece of transfer rumor is about the German defensive midfielder.

Speaking to Goal, Thomas Tuchel talked about how he envisions the 26-year-old defensive midfielder in his squad.
“Sven Bender is a leader,” the new BVB boss told reporters.” He is a constant in the squad. “It’s a pleasure to work with him, because he is a total team player. So we are very happy with him and we are planning with him.”
With two more years left on Bender’s contract, it’s not surprising that he’s still a part of Tuchel’s plan. The only problem that the German international will have, is facing stiff competition for a chance to start regularly with four other midfielders all vying for the same thing — first time minutes.
There’s still time left in the transfer window, but not for the regular season.
Potential targets have signed contract extensions with their current clubs or joined new ones while snubbing Tottenham. Whether Spurs were ever serious in any of them remains to be seen. But it looks like they weren’t just yet and might wait until the last day of the transfer window to finish improving the squad.
