Which Midfielder Should Tottenham Sign?
Who should Tottenham sign?
The most logical choice would be James McCarthy from Everton.
The only problem would be the price, which is £20 million. He brings the Premier League experience that Mauricio Pochettino would need and is most likely looking for. However if the Toffees offers an improved contract for the Republic of Ireland international, there’s a good chance that he’ll stay.
Should Tottenham miss out on McCarthy, Thiago Motta is a solid alternative. The thought of having an extra teacher — other than the coaching staff — should warrant a small fee for the Italian midfielder who could help transition Nabil Bentaleb into more of an offensive midfielder than pigeonhole him into a defensive midfielder for the rest of his career.
One intriguing option that should actually be looked at is signing Olivier Kemen. Giving him a year or two with the U-21 squad that Winks and Onomah have played in, has brought back some good results if they’ve both signed contract extensions and are closing in on a promotion to the first team.
