As the dust begins to settle from what many fans consider to be a transfer deadline day they’d just as soon forget, it seems time to finally prematurely assess the quality of each and every one of Tottenham’s summer signings.

We’ve seen precisely one of these players actually feature for Tottenham this season, so much of our judgment is going to be based on their previous career work and how well we think they will fit into Tottenham’s system.

Two, however, should appear as early as next weekend’s game against Sunderland, one as a starter and the other from the bench.

As shambolic as Tottenham’s transfer policy can sometimes seem, these five signings are surprisingly on theme. They are players that have some of the best virtues of their respective positions while also having the stamina and pace to participate effectively in Mauricio Pochettino’s beloved pressing game. Their integration into the side might not be immediate, but it’s safe to assume that they were all designed with the longterm future in mind.
