Tottenham: 3 reasons why Gareth Bale makes Spurs challengers
3. Bale isn’t coming alone
With all of the Bale news dominating the headlines, an underrated move Tottenham are making is the player also joining Tottenham from Real Madrid: Sergio Reguilon. According to Alasdair Gold of football.london, Spurs are hoping to announce the signings of both Bale and Reguilon on Friday.
Reguilon can play left back for Spurs, but his attacking ability also gives Mourinho the option to use him as a wing back. He can even be used as a left winger. In some ways, his versatility on the left side reminds me of Bale early in his career.
Reguilon can score goals — he found the net three times in all competitions for Sevilla last season. Reguilon can also set goals up — he had five assists last year. He will give Tottenham another talented attacking option on the left side.
How Reguilon and Bale fit into Mourinho’s plans remains to be seen. It’ll be interesting to see who Mourinho has in his best starting 11, the formation he goes for, and the roles each player on the team have.
What’s clear is the talent of these two players. With Reguilon and Bale set to sign from Real Madrid, Tottenham are improving their squad in a big way.
