Lamela and Lo Celso silver linings for Tottenham: Player ratings vs Leipzig

Giovani Lo Celso 8/10
Had flashes of brilliance and showcased an electric top speed. His control is magnificent. Lo Celso is a pivotal player in Spurs current side. Did as much as he could in a match where his side struggled to sustain any notable possession. Lo Celso struck a free kick magnificently and would have equalized had it not been for an acrobatic Péter Gulácsi save.
Harry Winks 6/10
Harry got about the pitch efficiently but spent most of the evening chasing shadows. The Englishman worked his socks off but wasn’t able to impact the game like he would have wanted. For the most part he fairly proficiently contained Leipzig’s explosive attack.
Gedson Fernandes 5/10
It wasn’t for lack of trying, but Gedson Fernandes showed his inexperience. He made quality passes but was largely ineffective. His performance wasn’t helped by Spurs lack of ball possession, as Gedson isn’t known for his ability to track back and chase relentlessly down the opposition.
Dele Alli 4/10
Not nearly good enough from someone who needs to take the lead in Kane and Son’s absence. Dele had a few good passages, making Leipzig players miss on quick turns. But he didn’t impact the match at all for most of it. Again, Dele cannot showcase his skills when his side doesn’t have the ball. But he must find other ways to show he can lead the side.
