Jose Mourinho is already being lined up as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor at Tottenham, barely an hour after the Argentinian’s dismissal.
We all know Mourinho has been waiting in the wings for this moment. Another chance to manage a London club might fall his way. Based on numerous reports, Mourinho is the frontrunner to take over the helm at Hotspur Way.
Pochettino was released without notice, leading many to believe Spurs have already lined up his replacement. Logic directs us to a few names, the most probable of which being Mourinho. He is a really strong short-term solution and has an uncanny knack for winning trophies within months of being appointed at a club.
Oftentimes Mourinho’s tenure at a club, due to his combative and bellicose nature, is short-lived. But nobody should be surprised if they hear of the former Chelsea and Manchester United’s appointment at Tottenham.
He has the pedigree and has managed at the top level for over a decade. He knows how to win and will appeal greatly to Levy. Mourinho would also be able to inject the defensive discipline and structure Spurs have recently lacked.
There is no way Levy would have fired Pochettino without a replacement already lined up. Massimiliano “Max” Allegri is the other short-listed favourite. The former Juventus man is also out of work, ready to jump on the right opportunity thrown his way. However, he is also in the running to potentially take over at Arsenal if the hammer comes down on Unai Emery, which it probably will.
What do you think about Mourinho possibly taking over at Spurs?
