Hull 1 – 7 Tottenham

As the remainder of the Premier League winded down, Tottenham only looked to be heating up.

There was nothing really left to play for when Tottenham visited Hull on the final day of the season. Thanks to a 1-0 loss to West Ham, Chelsea managed to win the title weeks before. City, Liverpool and Arsenal were all left to scramble for the final two Champions League qualification spots, with Spurs’ spot in second confirmed.

Still, Pochettino and his team did not relent. They beat Leicester City 6-1 in the midweek match prior to their trip to Hull, and it could have been far worse.

That win did actually mean something material in at least one way. Kane’s four goal haul in that match relaunched his bid for a second consecutive Golden Boot. All he would have to do is hope that Lukaku or Alexis Sanchez wouldn’t score two or more goals in the final day.

Kane wasn’t willing to let those players decide the race however. He would score three more against Hull to take his tally for the season to 29, or 35 total in all competitions.

That determination that led Kane to make history — despite two injury lay-offs over the course of this season — is Tottenham in a nutshell. Pochettino’s boys are young but hungry, and they’ve got the skill to turn their determination into concrete results.

Their historic points haul, their league-best offense and defense, this entire season of remarkable wins, all of it makes Tottenham one of the most promising sides in Europe for the seasons to come.
