By Ryan Wrenn

Paulinho would only become the third ever Brazilian to wear a Tottenham shirt and just like his compatriots before him (Heurelho Gomes and Sandro Raniere), Paulinho would be sold. After two years, with Spurs it’s safe to say and look back on it now — the Brazilian midfielder’s stay with Tottenham was okay at best. He wasn’t bad per se, but Paulinho didn’t have many standout performances during his matches.
And while you don’t always need to have Man of the Match moments all the time, it’s hard to recall many memorable moments off the top of your head. Still, Paulinho managed to record decent statistics as a box-to-box midfielder who was underutilized in Mauricio Pochettino’s offense. A major reason why, was because of Ryan Mason’s emergence into the first-team. As well as proving to be a better option to play at central midfield during Pochettino’s first year as Tottenham’s manager. This would eventually prove too difficult for the Brazilian international to overcome when he was given limited playing and in the end settled for a transfer to China this past summer.
