A frenzied opening 15 minutes of this match saw Liverpool hit Tottenham’s bar and Nacer Chadli go down with injury. Clinton Njie came on for the Belgian winger.

It’s fair to credit Liverpool with dominating significant time in the opening twenty or so minutes of the first half. Their pressing game is a dogged as you’d expect a Klopp side’s to be, though it remains to be seen if they have the miles in their legs to keep it up in the second half.

More from Hotspur HQ

While Tottenham have occasionally been caught out, they’ve remained solid enough to prevent Liverpool finding the goal.

Tottenham took time to get their offense together. Njie looked unprepared to be on the pitch so early and frequently misplayed passes from the left hand side of the attack. He did manage to get a shot on goal that was only stopped by a spectacular save from Liverpool’s keeper Simon Mignolet.

When Spurs found their rhythm, they didn’t often let up. A Harry Kane shot on goal was deflected and immediately followed by another shot on goal from Dele Alli. The momentum seemed to have shifted from Klopp to Pochettino’s boys.

There’s not much to criticize at Spurs at the end of the half. Njie’s sloppy start improved, especially when the young Cameroonian began to unleash shots. Kane and Eriksen are comfortably in sync. Even Dembélé and Alli seem competent

Overall, a shaky start has turned into a quietly powerful performance from Tottenham. If Liverpool continue to tire there’s every chance that Tottenham find their goal.
