The sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City has stirred some impassioned reactions and heated parlays on social media, so let’s dive into what people think about his polarizing departure.

I’ve already made my opinions felt. If a player wants to leave during the most promising years the club has seen in generations, bon voyage. It’s one thing to have ambition, to harbour a burning winning desire, particularly if one plays for a mediocre team, a club devoid of the finances – and opportunity – to elevate to the next level.

That, however, is not the case for Tottenham, a club that is situated perfectly to succeed.

His departure leaves a sour taste in my mouth, spearheading an angry visceral reaction. It was all about money all along for Walker, and that makes me incandescent with rage. It’s not like he’s going to a superior team, as everyone knows City is only where they are because of the outrageous expenditures on players in recent years.

On second thought, it’s a perfect match for the money-hungry right back, who Gary Lineker lambasted on Twitter once the deal was finalized. That’s enough from me, as bitterness and lividness are unbecoming character traits.

Let’s see what some others had to say about the deal.

That’s just a sample of thousands of tweets about Walker’s transfer, and as you can see, the topic splits opinions like it would if a Welshman chatted to a Londoner about Brexit. That might be a bit of generalization but the point I’m trying to make is clear.
