Tottenham have just announced their 24-man squad for this month’s International Champions Cup and it features a whole host of academy and fringe first-team players.

It’s not necessarily the news fans have been waiting for — as everyone is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Georges-Kévin N’Koudou, or another signing — but, it’s important to know who is on Tottenham’s 24-man squad that will play in the International Champions Cup in Australia.

Because this is a pre-season tournament, a majority of Mauricio Pochettino’s selections should be academy players who have yet to earn their first-ever start for Spurs. And looking at the list of players from Tottenham’s official site, this is exactly what happened.

But before getting to players who will play in the ICC in Australia, here are the ones who won’t be making the trip.

It’s not surprising that 10 out of Tottenham’s 11 players who played in this summer’s European Championship have been omitted. A large part of that is clearly allowing everyone to recover.

So England’s quintet of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker aren’t going to Australia to take on Juventus and Atlético Madrid.

Neither will Belgium’s trio of Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembélé and Jan Vertonghen (who suffered an ankle injury). Wales’ Ben Davies and France’s Hugo Lloris were also left out.

The only player who participated in the Euros, who will make the trip down under, is Austria’s Kevin Wimmer. The 23-year-old’s inclusion into Pochettino’s squad could be based on the fact that the Argentine manager is looking to find a partner for Wimmer when Vertonghen and Alderweireld won’t be starting together in certain fixtures. To allow them some much needed rest.

Last but not least, notable omissions includes the likes of Nabil Bentaleb, Clinton N’Jie and Alex Pritchard.

Trying to figure out why these three weren’t chosen will be a whole other topic, but for now, Mauricio Pochettino is mainly bringing an unproven team mostly filled with academy and fringe first-team players to see if they have what it takes to stick around for this upcoming season.

Tottenham’s 24-man squad for the International Champions Cup:

Goalkeepers (3): Tom Glover, Luke McGee, Michel Vorm

Defenders (6): Dominic Ball, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker-Peters, Kevin Wimmer, DeAndre Yedlin

Midfielders (12): Luke Amos, Tom Carroll, Nacer Chadli, Marcus Edwards, Christian Eriksen, Érik Lamela, Ryan Mason, William Miller, Josh Onomah, Anton Walkes, Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks

Forwards (3): Shayon Harrison, Vincent Janssen, Son Heung-Min

These are the 24 players who have been selected to face off against Serie A giants, Juventus, and this past season’s Champions League runners-up, Atlético Madrid.

Some players will be called up to the final 25-man squad for the 2016-17 Premier League season whereas others won’t be so fortunate.

Just looking at this list, it’s possible that anyone of the these players: Ball, Carter-Vickers, Edwards, Harrison, Onomah, Walker-Peters and Winks could feature at some point this season.

It could happen in the Premiership like Josh Onomah a year ago. Perhaps an appearance in Europe like Harry Winks did in the Europa League. Or, they could be chosen on the bench like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kyle Walker-Peters.

Whatever happens, it’d be a shock if none of the seven players named above got called up to the first-team to earn some minutes this year.
