Danny Welbeck has been told he can leave Manchester United. The England international wants to move to Tottenham but will he sign for Spurs before the end of the transfer window.
The Telegraph are reporting that Dany Welbeck has been told that he can leave Old Trafford. Tottenham are one of a number of clubs who are reported to be interested in signing the England striker. Other clubs who are thought to have been watching developments are Everton, Arsenal, Sunderland and Hull City. Welbeck could leave before the end of the transfer window, either on a season-long loan deal or in a permanent move but United would prefer him to go to a club which is not challenging for a Champions League place.
Danny Welbeck To Tottenham?
In their article, The Times, link Danny Welbeck with a preference for a move to Tottenham. Gary Jacob and Tom Vickers wrote,
“Welbeck is understood to be hopeful of securing a move to Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the transfer window, with the London club in the market for extra firepower.”
The Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal was not prepared to talk about the future of Danny Welbeck.
I have never been a fan of Danny Welbeck, often regarding his inclusion in the England team being due to the fact he was a Manchester United player.
I admit that it is an unfair assessment of the young striker who has impressed Roy Hodgson enough to earn 26 England caps since his debut in 2011. In those games Welbeck has scored 8 goals.
At Manchester United he has made 139 appearances and scored 33 goals, including 4 in the Champions League. He didn’t play in last weekend’s game against Swansea due to injury.
Welbeck could be a useful player for Tottenham as he is quite versatile and can play across the forward line. He could play wide on the left and bring a greater goal threat than those at White Hart Lane.
A player who wants to play for Tottenham – that’s good news in this day and age. I go back to an era when players wanted to come to White Hart Lane. Hopefully Danny Welbeck won’t turn out like the last young striker who made the move, on loan, from Old Trafford to Spurs – Fraizer Campbell. That was a disappointment.
