Tottenham Transfer Targets – Round-up

With only 2 weeks left until the transfer window shuts completely until January, can the deal be sealed on Morgan Schniederlin, Loic Remy and other rumoured Tottenham transfer targets?

Mauricio Pochettino will have to work fast if he wants to sign the various players that have caught Spurs’ eye. After spending in excess of £100 million last season, Daniel Levy will be hoping this extravagant spending spree will prove its worth and reward Tottenham with success.

However, there are still a few positions that clearly need urgent improvement as we saw in the first half of the West Ham match. Our defence last season made 21 individual errors that led to a goal and that is just not acceptable at this standard of football. Being an Argentinian International defender, Pochettino will be looking to strengthen our defence so that our attack can be confident on the ball and not worry that if they lose it then it is not game over already.

Tottenham Transfer Targets

These key positions are vital to improve and Pochettino has had his eyes on various players that are perfect for our Tottenham side:

Loic Remy

  • Position: Striker
  • Current Club: QPR
  • Age: 27
  • Buy-Out Clause: £8-10 million

After impressing on loan at Newcastle last season with 14 goals in 24 appearances, Loic Remy was courted by various clubs such as Liverpool and Arsenal. The Frenchman was almost set to sign for Liverpool until he failed a medical there for undisclosed reasons. Now, with Roberto Soldado rumoured to be on his way out of Spurs, Mauricio Pochettino is looking for new options to solve one of the main problems Tottenham had last season, goalscoring.

Wilfried Bony

  • Position: Striker
  • Current Club: Swansea City
  • Age: 25
  • Buy-Out Clause: £19 million

The Ivorian Striker hit the net 26 times last season and has been on the radar of clubs, similar to Remy. Liverpool look keen on replacing Luis Suarez with the strength and skill of Wifried Bony but Tottenham also look likely to bid for what would be their third acquisition from Swansea.

Mattia Destro

  • Position: Striker
  • Current Club: A.S Roma
  • Age: 23
  • Swap deal with Soldado

The youngest of the striking options, Mattia Destro scored 13 goals in 20 Serie A appearances last season to ensure Roma took second place in Italy’s top division. With no Premier League experience, Destro is the risky option but could be an outlet for popular yet out of form striker Roberto Soldado. Soldado only scored twice from open play in last season’s Premier League and has struggled to find the dazzling form he reached during his time at Valencia. Could Destro be another flop or could he be the gear Tottenham are missing?

Morgan Schneiderlin and Fredy Guarin

  • Positions: Midfield
  • Current Clubs: Southampton and Inter Milan
  • Ages: 24 and 28
  • Buy-Out Clause: £20-25 million and £4m + Soldado

Tottenham are readying up to make a third and final bid for Southampton’s Morgan Schniederlin in efforts to reunite the defensive midfielder with old boss Mauricio Pochettino. In my opinion Schneiderlin would bring defensive solidity and power going forward and is one of my most wanted players of the summer. Fredy Guarin is also wanted by Manchester United, however, Tottenham may be able to tempt the Colombian International by including Soldado in a player and cash deal. Guarin would be a suitable partner for Schneiderlin and would be very influential on our attack as he is a very effective dribbler and crosser.

We have also been linked with Villarreal centre back, Mateo Mussachio and PSV and Netherlands midfielder, Memphis Depay but these players have all played 90 minutes for their clubs and do not look likely to leave during this current transfer window.
