Mauricio Pochettino expressed his pleasure at the Tottenham during during their 6 – 1 win over Glasgow Celtic in Helsinki.
Tottenham enjoyed a comfortable win over Celtic in their fourth pre-season friendly. With the World Cup players still absent the manager, as he did on tour, continued with his policy of rotating the players to give everyone an opportunity to build up their fitness. He was pleased with the Tottenham attitude against a young Celtic team.
In speaking to the club website, Pochettino said,
We are really pleased with the players because they have a very good attitude which they showed in the game.
He regarded the game as another important step in the team’s preparations to be ready for the start of the season in a fortnight. He said,
It was a very good session for us. After the result it seems like an easy game but it’s never easy to play against a young team.
With Celtic playing a young team because of their Champions League commitments, Pochettino denied the game had been a waste of time. Hotspur Related (@HotspurRelated) reported the Head Coach’s comments. He said,
I was hoping for a stronger test. We brought a strong squad but it was still a worthwhile game. It wasn’t a waste of time, sometimes these games are more difficult because young players try harder in friendlies.
Mauricio Pochettino was pleased to have Emmanuel Adebayor, Sandro and Nabil Bentaleb, the only World Cup player to travel to Finland, back with the team. The manager commented,
It’s always important to welcome back players like Adebayor, Bentaleb and Sandro so that they are with the team.
