Morgan Schneiderlin has responded to the news that he will not be sold by Southampton. He posted a tweet on his account,
In what is a quickly changing story, Morgan Schneiderlin is obviously displeased at Southampton’s decision that neither he nor Jay Rodriguez will be sold this summer. The past twenty four hours has seen a complete turnaround in the news concerning the possible transfer of the two players.
Yesterday, it looked as if Tottenham were about to complete a deal for the two players but now, twenty four hours on, the Southampton Chairman, Ralph Krueger, has stated that no more players will be sold and that both Schneiderlin and Rodriguez are among the core group of players who will be retained to work under the new manager, Ronald Koeman.
Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin will be in our line-up as we move into next season. They will not be sold.
With 5 players having already left Southampton, Morgan Schneiderlin who was in the France World Cup squad, was determined to follow them out of St. Mary’s with Tottenham as his preferred option. Last week he spoke of working with Mauricio Pochettino and of Tottenham.
If Tottenham maintain their interest in Schneiderlin, they may have to be patient as the Southampton chairman has made it clear that Southampton do not want to sell him or Rodriguez.
If the French midfielder remains determined to leave the club he joined in 2008, he may take steps to push through a move before the end of the transfer window.
Tottenham have been in this position before but it’s usually been them trying to hold on to a player who is determined to leave Spurs.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
