‘New Iniesta’ Musa Yahaya To Join Up With Tottenham

The 16-year-old Nigeria winger Musa Yahaya is to join up with Tottenham early next week for pre-season training. Yahaya had agreed a pre-contract agreement with Tottenham earlier this year and then went on loan with Celta Vigo.

Musa Yahaya who will be 17 in December was the star player for the Nigeria team at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year. He scored 3 goals as Nigeria progressed to the Final where they defeated Mexico to win the trophy for a record fourth time. Yahaya has since been called into the Nigeria Under-20 squad when he scored in a recent game against Tanzania.

The player’s agent Babawo Mohammed told,

He’s an exciting prospect and naturally very excited with this opportunity, which will most certainly enhance his rising profile.

Last February, the Metro reported that Tottenham had fought off the challenge from leading clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester City, to sign Musa Yohaya on a pre-contract agreement.

In the article Musa Yahaya was described as, “a fast, skilful and powerful play-maker who can also play on the wing”.

New Andres Iniesta

Yahaya is said to have told reporters that he has been nicknamed ‘new Iniesta’ for years because of his accurate passing and ability to unlock defences.

Yahaya is expected to remain with Tottenham until September and on the completion of pre-season training will go back on loan to Celta Vigo in La Liga for the remainder of the season.

He can play on the wing but he`s a classic number 10. Orchestrator.

Thanks for that – hopefully we’ll see him in a Tottenham shirt in the not too distant future.

According to his agent this morning he has already signed for us.

I think he signed a pre-contract agreement last February and then was sent out on loan to Celta Vigo as he’s only 16. He’s returning to Spurs for pre-season training before going back on a season-long loan in Spain.

he cant sign a proper contract till he is 17 and i think the reason he will be loaned back is he cant get a work permit yet?
